15 April

With a small help from Uber and one car trip we mostly hit the pavements and enjoyed long strolls around the wide tree lined streets of Canberra. As one would expect of the capital with its unique geography (well,it reminds me of Washington DC…) the bookshops also had some surprises. QBD and Dymocks Canberra mainstream in a shopping mall and Paperchain and Book Cow typical on the street local colour…but then there was the National Library bookshop featuring us, a presence at the National Portrait Gallery (not however at the National Art Gallery) and the pinnacle – sold out at the National Arboretum which is located amongst gorgeous landscaped hills (what better place to sell a book called The Glass House?).
Finished the day with a warm and enthusiastic interview by Yenn Perkis (who via video trained me in clinical recognition of Autism) at Harry Hartog (located at ANU od course!) So lovely to have the Ozhelp people turn up – just wish we had more ACT events so there were more royalties to donate! Also touched to have the president of RANZCP turning up and taking a book for the college. I have been appreciative of their support for this book and the conversations around mental health it has encouraged.
